A Le Mans Prototype (LMP) is a type of sports prototype race car used in various races and championships, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA SportsCar Championship, European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series. Le Mans is one of the world's most prestigious races; it is held annually at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France. In this brutal endurance test for both drivers and cars, teams have to race for 24 hours straight. The event delivers a spectacle with drivers flooring the throttle to 250 mph and averaging 156 mph. The 62-car field for this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans is divided into four classes: five cars in Hypercar, 27 cars in LMP2, seven cars in GTE Pro and 23 cars in GTE Am.
